Every now and again we all need
a treat and here you have just that awaiting you with an introduction to vintage wedding
cars.
Meet Rosie, the latest addition to our growing fleet of prestigious vintage wedding cars. Rosie is a 1934 Rolls Royce 20/25 Arthur Mulliner, Six Seater Limousine finished in black with cream side panels. The darker tones are so highly reflective that you can literally take a photograph and see your own reflection in the developed image. Originally, Rosie was all black and we had the colour changed as in the business of wedding cars, less people favour all black. Steeped in history is this vehicle with the original owner being born in 1880 but now, long departed, Rosie still lives on following a complete and tremendously costly renovation from top to bottom, and now simply enjoys the wedding cars business and meeting happy brides and grooms.
Vintage wedding cars, like they should be presented. The engine purrs and the doors close with a sound of heavy quality. Once within the huge interior, you are in a time warp, where you can only marvel at the quality of past times and the grandeur of the upper classes. Now used as wedding cars, others can feel the same opulence as bygone generations.
The above shows the interior quality and here the huge space becomes obvious, consequently easily easy accommodating even the largest of wedding dresses. Truly spectacular wedding cars are these with a seating capacity is up to six passengers with the use of optional occasional seats where this is in comfort. The all leather interior is a light cream giving an air of freshness and enough contrast between white dress and interior so permitting spectacular photographs on your special day. The interior is garnished in ornate walnut characterized by intricate and beautiful attention detail adding to its charm. It can be imagined the discussions between client (Mrs. Ida Szlumper) and coach builder - Arthur Mulliner prior to construction. There sure are plenty of discussions about these vehicles now. Doors are tall and wide making these vehicles especially easy to enter and exit and more so where a large wedding dress is planned.
Between 1929 and 1936 Rolls Royce built 3827 20/25's chassis. The body was made and fitted by a coach builder selected by the owner. Amongst the most famous coach builders who produced bodies for Rolls Royce were Park Ward, Thrupp, Maberly, Hooper and Mulliner. The latter as is the case here. The 20/25 succeeded the 20hp as Rolls-Royce's small car. The 20/25 were intended to appeal to owner drivers but many were sold to customers with chauffeurs. The top speed is in the region of 75 mph though this would depend on the body fitted. Slow by today's standard, but still above the speed limit of today and that's how vehicles should be driven. With care, attention and respect.
The follow two images show the seating possibilities in the case of these cars. The rear space, as seen here, can be arranged so as to carry between three and five passengers. Two to four passengers would be in greater comfort. One passenger can also be carried on the front seat, therefore, permitting a maximum of six passengers plus chauffeur. The image on the left, illustrates that two passengers would be carried in comfort. With the arm rest raised, three passengers. In the case of the right image, the occasional seats have been raised, therefore permitting, two additional passengers. The seats are always fitted and just take moments to put into place. In the case of all images. It can be seen that wedding cars such as these permit very easy access. Incidentally, the photo here was at Burwood Golf Club where we often display our offerings.
It is hope that you have enjoyed reading the information on such cars as these in fact, the information on all the vehicles we have to offer. In the case of this 20/25, the area of Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghashre and Hampshire are generally cater for.
